Tyler, The Creator Explains Why He Is Banned From The UK


When Tyler, the Creator began cancelling the United Kingdom shows on his European tour, it was later revealed that the Cherry Bomb rapper is banned from the country. Now the former Odd Future frontman has taken to his Twitter feed to speak on why he is not allowed there.

Tyler’s manager, Christian Clancy, offered further clarification in a Tumblr post where he said the controversial lyrics are from his 2009 album Bastard and his 2011 album, Goblin. In a letter written by the secretary of state for the home department of the UK, it states that Tyler’s music “encourages violence and intolerance of homosexuality” and “fosters hatred with views that seek to provoke others to terrorist acts..”

Clancy went on to say that Tyler has visited the UK numerous times without any issue, even as recent as last month.

“..tyler has been to the UK over 20x in the last 5 years without incident (shows, in stores, meet and greets). we rented out a movie theatre last month in London for a private showing of napoleon dynamite for his fans. literally last month.”

This isn’t the first time the west coast native had to cancel tour dates because of his lyrics. He recently cancelled his Austrailan tour after a feminist group attempted to get his visa banned.

Even though he cannot step foot in the UK for the next three to five years, Tyler is heading out on tour with A$AP Rocky in October.
