Young Buck Pleads Not Guilty In Vibe Awards Incident

G-Unit rapper Young Buck pleaded not guilty Friday (Jan. 14) to an assault with a deadly weapon charge stemming from an incident at the Vibe Awards last November in Santa Monica, California. Buck, born David Darnell Brown, is accused of stabbing Los Angeles parolee Jimmy James Johnson after Johnson allegedly punched Aftermath Records head Dr. Dre, as the award show was being taped. Dre was preparing to go on stage to receive a lifetime achievement award when Johnson requested an autograph from the infamous rapper/producer, then punched him when Dre refused, according to reports. The attack triggered a huge brawl in the midst of the show. Johnson also pleaded not guilty Monday (Jan. 11) to a felony assault charge for allegedly striking Dre in the face. The only words Buck reportedly uttered at the hearing Friday (Jan. 14) in the Airport Courthouse of Los Angeles Superior Court were in regards to his latest album Straight Outta Ca$hville, released last August. "Young Buck, go buy my album," he told those present. Buck turned himself in to police Nov. 19 and was later freed on $500,000 bail. The rapper faces up to eight years in prison if convicted, according to authorities. A court has to decide whether evidence is sufficient to begin a trial. And Buck is scheduled to return to court for a preliminary hearing on February 18.
