Young M.A Explains The Inspiration For Her Debut Album ‘Herstory In The Making’

“You’re gonna get the truth… This is all me.”

(AllHipHop News) Brooklyn rapper Young M.A broke out on the national stage when “Ooouuu” dominated the summer of 2016, and Hip Hop followers then patiently waited for M.A to let loose her debut studio album. The wait is nearly over.

Herstory In The Making is scheduled for release on September 27 via M.A Music/3D. The body of work will hit DSPs on the 10-year anniversary of her brother passing away from gun violence.

“There isn’t a single day that I don’t think about my brother. He continues to motivate me; inspire me and this project will forever be dedicated to his legacy,” expresses Young M.A.

Production for Herstory In The Making was provided by Zaytoven, Mike Zombie, Antwan “Amadeus” Thompson, NY Bangers, and more. The project contains 21 tracks including the songs “BIG” and “Pettywap.”

“You’re gonna get the truth,” says M.A about her album. “You’re gonna get the cocky joints, the slick talk joints where I talk my talk, but then I’m gonna get personal. Real personal. That’s why this album is called Herstory In The Making because it’s about all sides of me.”

The acclaimed lyricist adds, “People will hear this album and say, ‘I had no idea she was going through all that.’ I don’t put myself out there on social media. I save it for the music, and I write it all. This is all me.”
