It seems like The Weeknd is becoming the new King of R&B. According to numbers he may have become the new King of Pop & R&B simultaneously. As of August 2015, he is the hottest singer on Billboard 100, the most popular musician on Beats 1 Radio, and the top selling singles artist in the iTunes music store. With success there comes criticism. With this said, some critics have noted The Weeknd’s success but also claim he is not authentic R&B. Critics claim The Weeknd fits into the category of new wave pseudo R&B. What are your thoughts?
