Lil Boosie Facing Life; Murder Trial Set For April

(AllHipHop News) Incarcerated rapper Lil Boosie will stand trial for murder this April, the rapper has revealed. Lil Boosie released a new letter to fans to thank them for his support as he faces various legal challenges. In addition to a possible death sentence, Lil Boosie is also serving an eight-year prison sentence for attempting to sneak drugs into two State prisons in Louisiana. Lil Boosie, born Torrence Hatch, was already in jail serving a four year bid for possession of marijuana. “I go to trial for this murder charge in April so please keep me in your prayers,” Lil Boosie said. “Ring The Alarm” Producer/Pioneering Reggae Artist Winston Riley Dies Of Gunshot Wounds

(AllHipHop News) A producer who created an often sampled reggae song died from gunshot wounds over the weekend, in the West Indies. Producer Winston Riley had been hospitalized since November, after he was shot in the head in his upscale residence in St. Andrew, Jamaica. Prior to being shot in the head in November, Riley was targeted in August of 2011 when he was shot by unknown assailants. Before that incident, he was stabbed by and unknown arsonists also burned down his legendary record store, Techniques. Riley was born in West Kingston and rose to prominence in the early to mid 1960’s, as a member of influential Ska/Rocksteady band, The Techniques. He was also influential in the popularization of Reggae music throughout Europe with hits in the 1970’s. By the 1970’s, Riley was producing early records for a genre of music that would later be identified as Dancehall music. He produced several hits for the genre including Tenor Saw’s classic “Ring the Alarm,” while artists like Nas, OGC, Busta Rhymes, Biz Markie, Slick Rick and numerous others have sampled his work. Riley’s son told local media thy he had no idea why his father had been targeted. At press time, police have no suspects or motives in any of the incidents.

Lil Eazy E Alive And Well, But Family Member Dies In Car Crash

(AllHipHop News) Rapper Lil Eazy E has been forced to issue a statement, after reports surfaced that he was killed in a car crash. The confusion started when Texas authorities mistakingly identified Lil Eazy, born Eric Wright Jr., as a casualty in a fiery car crash, in East Texas, that claimed the lives of eight people. “My heart is heavy with grieve over the loss of my loved one,” Lil Eazy told AllHipHop.com. “I thank all of you for your sentiments and ask that you pray for my family as we deal with this very difficult and painful occurrence.” Lil Eazy’s name was listed on the rental agreement, resulting in the early confusion. Police do not know who was at fault in the crash, which occurred on a remote stretch of road about 100 miles outside of Dallas on Friday (December 30). All four occupants in the car associated with Lil Eazy were killed, as were the occupants of the other vehicle, which included a 29-year-old woman, an 8-year-old, a 6-year-old and a 10-month-old.
