Peter Rosenberg Responds to Nicki Minaj Controversy, 'Not Sorry'

(AllHipHop News) After a media firestorm, his name becoming a trending topic, and after Young Money artist Nicki Minaj cancelled her performance at Hot 97’s Summer Jam, Peter Rosenberg has taken the time to speak out about his recent comments on the Summer Jam stage. In an interview with TMZ, Peter Rosenberg elaborated on his comments made about Nicki’s song “Starships”, while introducing Kendrick Lamar on the Summer Jam stage. “Basically it was the festival stage, which is traditionally the more underground stage, up and comer stage, and I went out there to introduce Kendrick Lamar from Compton, and you know, I just said if you are not about that ‘Starships” crap and you are about the real stuff – and I’m editing a bit, I’m about the real Hip-Hop. Let’s bring Kendrick Lamar,” Rosenberg explained to TMZ. Rosenberg appeared to be surprised by the social media backlash after having made similar, if not worse, comments about the song in the past. “Why would she listen to me? I’m a Jewish kid from the suburbs of Maryland who grew up on hip-hop and loves hip-hop. And I take it seriously. But it’s just an opinion, man. I don’t hate Nicki Minaj. I don’t have any beef with her at all,” Rosenberg told TMZ. Since Rosenberg’s comments, Nicki Minaj has scheduled a free concert for her fans in the New York and New Jersey area.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Is Lil’ Kim A Liar? – Birdman Thinks So!

Last week, Lil’ Kim opened her “The Return Of The Queen” tour at The Paradise Theater in The Bronx. N.Y. She killed it at the concert and brought out Missy Elliott, Eve, Fred Da Godson and even had Pepa from Salt N Pepa chilling with her backstage. Anyway, during a promotional run for the tour the Queen Bee sat down with the Breakfast Club and gave her version of the origin of the Nicki Minaj beef. Lil’ Kim basically said that she was set to sign with Cash Money and did a song featuring her and Nicki Minaj for Birdman’s album. The song never made it on the album and Kim says that Nicki Minaj stole her whole swag from that song. Birdman says Lil’ Kim is not telling an accurate account of what happened. Check out what he told MTV’s DJ Envy below: Nah, ain’t no truth to that, we based on creativity. If you know about YMCMB and you ever followed us and been a part of our music, biting and stealing that sh*t just ain’t for us. All [those] rap wars, we just grinding for the money, sun up, sun down. It’s Nicki Minaj all day everyday.” Who do you believe?

Hip-Hop Rumors: Drake Disses Pitbull and Producer David Guetta

Drake has made it clear in several interviews that he is not a fan of dance music. In fact, Drake has called out Pitbull and producer David Guetta’s music for not having “integrity.” Check out what he told NME Magazine below: “For me, the David Guetta stuff just doesn’t work,” he said. “I don’t really wanna go there. There’s other artists, that’s their sound. They feel in order to thrive internationally that they gotta do straightforward, four to the floor, David Guetta, Pitbull music.” Drake says that he is open to creating music for the genre but insisted his work has ”integrity and soul,” which would be watered down by working with an artist like Guetta. “They feel in order to thrive internationally that they gotta do straightforward, four on the flour, David Guetta, Pitbull music,” the 25-year-old Take Care rapper stated. ”For me, I’d rather go to somebody like [producer] ‘Jamie xx’ and tell him, ‘Look, I really wanna turn the club upside down, but I wanna do it with integrity, with soul.”’ David Guetta has previously worked with Young Money artist Nicki Minaj on two tracks – “Where Them Girls At” and “Turn Me On.” I wonder if Drake is saying that Nicki’s tracks don’t have any integrity either?

Hip-Hop Rumors: Nicki Minaj Thinking About Leaving Music

Nicki Minaj seems like she is really feeling herself a little too much these days. She recently stopped by the Tim Westwood show in London and hinted that she was ready to leave music. Referring to herself in third person the whole time as “the kid,” Nicki went in about what she feels she is not being appreciated. Check out what she said below: “People aren’t even giving the kid props for taking it back to the essence… This is my fourth mixtape, really. The kid did like that so she could feed her fans. But really, now the kid is thinking maybe she should leave the game.” Taking it back to “the essence.” What in the world is she talking about? I know she’s not talking about the essence of Hip-Hop….is she?
