Rick Ross Hopes His MMG Protegés Learn From His Lost Reebok Deal

(AllHipHop News) Back in April, Maybach Music Group boss Rick Ross lost his partnership with Reebok after women’s groups protested against a controversial lyric in Ross’ “U.O.N.E.O” verse. While the lost deal reportedly cost the Miami rapper $3-5 million dollars, he’s still attempting to pull something positive from the situation for his MMG crew. [ALSO READ: Reebok Dumps Rick Ross] “I’m in a position where if I never sold another shoe, Rozay good. So it’s really about what the little homies who coming next gonna take away from it,” Ross told MTV. The connection between corporations and rappers has been tightly scrutinized over the last several months as other high-profile performers with corporate ties like Lil Wayne and Tyler, The Creator have also been criticized for their content. Several of the MMG roster members have dealt with major companies in recent years. Meek Mill and Rockie Fresh are partnered with Puma, Wale endorses Skullcandy, and Stalley has worked with the Disney owned ESPN Network. “It most definitely was a learning situation and just for the little homeys, just something for them to take away,” said Ross. “That’s what’s important to me, what they take away from it.” Ross also spoke briefly on his own relationship with the shoe company that he had to cut ties with. “As far as myself and Reebok, we got a healthy situation,” added Ross. The whole MMG team will come together again for the Self Made Vol. 3 album hitting stores on August 6th. [ALSO READ: MMG’s Self Made Vol 3 Will Be Released This Summer]

Protests Scheduled Outside Reebok Store in NYC; Petition Demands Reebok Fire Ross

(AllHipHop News) Public anger and controversy surrounding Rick Ross’ rape lyrics continues to mount today (April 3) as the women’s rights group UltraViolet has announced they will lead a protest outside of Reebok’s flagship store in Manhattan tomorrow (April 4). UltraViolet members are planning to deliver 71,763+ petitions to the company’s flagship store demanding the company fire the Maybach Music Group leader. “We are appalled that Reebok would pay a spokesperson who brags about enjoying drugging and raping a woman,” said Nita Chaudhary, co-founder of UltraViolet. “Reebok devotes a lot of time, energy and money to marketing to women–and now they are paying a man who is literally bragging about raping us while absurdly insisting it can’t possibly be rape if he doesn’t use the word “rape.” Reebok is apparently OK promoting rape culture, but when 1 out of 5 women are the victim of an attempted or completed rape, that has consequences.” [Twitter Wars: Talib Kweli and Dream Hampton Battle Over Rick Ross Rape Lyric] While Rick Ross attempted to apologize in a radio interview earlier this week, Talib Kweli came forward this week and stated that the apology was not sufficient and that Rick Ross was a “misguided 40-year-old.” “I want to make sure this is clear, woman is the most precious gift known to man, you understand? It was a misunderstanding with a lyric, a misinterpretation where the term rape wasn’t used. I would never use the word rape in my records,” Rick Ross explained. “And as far as my camp, hip-hop don’t condone that, streets don’t condone that. Nobody condones that, you understand me? I just wanted to reach out to all the queens that’s on my timeline, all the sexy ladies, the beautiful ladies that have been reaching out to me about the misunderstanding. We don’t condone rape and I’m not with that.” For the protest, dozens of women are planning to appear in running gear with marathon style bibs featuring the number 71,763, with boxes of 71,763 petitions, and signs reading, “Hey Reebok– Want my business? Stop promoting rape. Drop Rick Ross.” UltraViolet’s protest will take place at Reebok’s flagship NYC store located at 420 5th Ave, NYC  at 2pm. More news as details emerge.

Hip Hop Rumors: 50 Cent Made How Much From His G-Unit Sneakers?! Plus, Shots Fired At Swizz Beatz?

Say what you want about 50 Cent, but one thing’s for sure, he is one hell of a business man. The frequent Forbes Cash King list maker revealed just how much money he earned for his G-Unit sneaker collaboration with Reebok, and it’s insane! 50 must have been in a braggadocious mood yesterday when he posted the tweet below, revealing that he has earned $80 million for his G-Unit sneaker! 50 really never needs to make another record again and he’ll be just fine financially. In another tweet, 50 thanked Paul Fireman, who sold Reebok a few years back for $700 million in cash!!! Now, that’s a real Cash King! No shots, just saying. Check out a pic of Paul below with A.I. While it was a nice gesture on 50’s behalf, the tweet also seemed to hold a subliminal diss towards anyone who is endorsing Reebok these days…a.k.a. Swizz Beatz and Rick Ross. Check out his tweet below: Should Swizz Beatz be offended? If you are still doubtful that 50 was taking shots at Swizz Beatz, check out the tweet 50 followed that up with: If you didn’t know, Swizz Beatz also has a partnership with luxury shoe designer, Christian Louboutin a.k.a. Mr. Red Bottoms. Could that be another subliminal tweet, or is it just a coincidence? Email me your rumors at SydneyLaceAHH@gmail.com GET INTERACTIVE WITH ALLHIPHOP.COM! Follow us on Twitter!
