Man, there were ’nuff people scared that Slaughterhouse was going to break up. But, apparently the crew has already addressed this rumor and stated very matter of factly that they are not breaking up. I assume they are going to continue do what they have been doing so far. OK, breath a sigh of relief if you will. slaughtaaaaaaa house. They keep us talking, but if we stop talking about them then they should worry! -illseed. Illseed, Out. Well, you may already know this, but Slaughterhouse is in full swing with their new album. They have hit the studio with Just Blaze, Ill Mindz and now I’m hearing The Justice League is in town to do some work with the crew. Looks like Shady is opening up the budget! As far as rappers are concerned, all I’m hearing is Eminem. As I told you before, this may be there last group effort before they go on to their solo ventures. That’s just what I heard, but I’m guessing they will address it eventually. I wonder if there will be any intermingling of Joe’s reality TV stuff. Right now, he’s supposedly starting taping for “Love & Hip-Hop New York.” Maybe he’s one of the people getting $50k per ep? I know that would definitely bring Consequence back to the show! I’d act a ratchet mess for $50k per ep. Anyway, that’s the latest. They keep us talking, but if we stop talking about them then they should worry! -illseed. Illseed, Out. NOTHING EPIC, JUST SOME ILLSEED QUICKIES!
THE END OF THE ROAD FOR SLAUGHTERHOUSE!
After a 6-month hiatus from Slaughterhouse, Royce Tha 5’9″ is ready to get back to work
(AllHipHop News) In the immortal words of the philosopher Cam’ron: it’s going to be a hot summer. Eminem’s longtime manager Paul Rosenberg recently told Billboard that Eminem’s eighth studio album will be release “post-Memorial Day.” He assures fans that the highest selling rapper of all-time is “far into the process” of recording his follow up to his multiplatinum 2010 album Recovery and his 2011 collaborative album Hell: The Sequel with Royce Da 5’9. Details about the as-of-yet untitled opus began leaking Thursday (Feburary 7) when British newspaper The Sun reported that Eminem would be sampling newcomer UK artist Jamie N Common for his first single. “It’s scheduled to be Eminem’s big single this summer when he headlines the Reading and Leeds festivals in the UK.” Rosenberg made mention of Mr. Mathers’ scheduled UK performances and consequently they are “trying to see what else lines up. Eminem will headline the Reading and Leeds Festival this August. The Shady Records general is not the only one gearing up to release music. Yelawolf is currently in Nashville, Tenn recording his sophomore album. Joe Budden released No Love Lost this Tuesday (Feb 5th) with the remaining Slaughterhouse members all due to release solo albums. Eminem’s last solo album, Recovery to date has sold over 5.8 million records. [READ ALSO: Eminem Produced series “Detroit Rubber” Debut Online]
FUNK FIVE: THE TOP 5 FUNKMASTER FLEX FREESTYLES
Last night (January 22) at Chung King Studios in New York City, Joe Budden previewed his new album, No Love Lost, to a studio packed full of journalists and friends who found themselves surrounded by lasers, edible treats and a haze of hookah smoke. Since the release of his self-titled Def Jam debut in 2003, Joe has released nearly 15 projects, formed Slaughterhouse, one of rap’s respected groups and became a reality star thanks to the VH1 show Love and Hip-Hop. With all of that in mind, it should come as no surprise that No Love Lost showcases a solo Joe Budden lyrically in top-form, a quality that he associates with growth, maturity and spending countless days in the studio with the likes of Eminem and his Slaughterhouse brethren, Royce Da 5’9″, Crooked I and Joell Ortiz. The listening event kicked off with the Kirko Bangz-assisted and Mizfitz Soundz-produced record, “Top of the World,” and was followed by the album’s second single, “NBA.” “NBA” features guest verses from the likes of Wiz Khalifa and French Montana, two artists who are not the conventional collaborators you would imagine when you look at Joey’s catalog from the past, yet hold there own in the most organic way. The Cardiak-produced “You and I” was next. Joe let the crowd know that the song was originally intended to feature Lloyd but now showcases singer Emanny who has collaborated with Joe many times over the years and is “part of the family.” The soulful “Castles” was next followed by “All In My Head” which featured Royce Da 5’9″ and singer Kobe. The remaining members of Slaughterhouse got to showcase some of there inaugural verses of the new year on the Frequency-produced “Skeletons.” Another standout record titled “Ghetto Burbs” followed. The Sean C and LV-produced track once again features Emanny crooning over stellar production from the Grammy Award-nominated duo responsible for hits from the likes of Jay-Z, Clipse, Ghostface Killah and many more. The listening event showcased other records from No Love Lost like “Switch Positions” featuring Omarion, “Tell Him Somethin,” or the “v##### song” as Joey referred to it, the guitar-infused “Runaway,” and the superbly produced “Last Day” with Juicy J and Lloyd Banks. Not only is 2013 special to Joe and his fans because of No Love Lost, it also marks the 10-year anniversary of Joe Budden and his first Mood Muzik mixtape. With the filler-free No Love Lost, the New Jersey native has crafted an album that his most hardcore fans will memorize, his newest fans will embrace and Hip-Hop listeners in general will appreciate. No Love Lost is set for release on February 5th via eOne Music
“When you first come in the game they try to play you”… Jay-Z’s line best describes the feelings of a new artist, and one of the newest additions to the world of Soul, Krissy Krissy. Mentored by Slaughterhouse rapper Joell Ortiz , she is a Brooklyn native, songwriter, artist, and guitarist. Krissy Krissy fights to stay true to herself in a male-dominated and often criticizing industry. Recently dropping her new EP, Above All, AllHipHop.com sits down with the ambitious singer to chop it up about what motivates her and her music. Background: When Krissy Krissy was a little girl, she would get behind the pulpit at church, hype up the crowd with a lot of “Come on everybody! Get your hands up!” in a voice soulful beyond her years, and belt out Fred Hammond or Kirk Franklin songs so hard that the veins in her head would bulge, her face would turn red, and the congregation wouldn’t know what hit them. Not much has changed since then. When the 23-year-old Pop/Rock artist sings, that same guttural passion still shows on her face and her audience is still dumbstruck at this “little White girl with soul,” as she was so oft described. Except today, instead of doing it at the church in Brooklyn’s Bushwick neighborhood that she grew up in, she’s singing it out to millions nationwide via MTV, Logo, iHeartRadio, and YouTube, thanks to her summer hit, “Dream”. The single is the first from her debut EP, Above All, which is a Freshman Pick on MTVu, a “NewNextNow” featured video on Logo, and a Top 10 hit on iHeartRadio. AllHipHop.com: How does Hip-Hop influence your music? Krissy Krissy: I believe Hip-Hop writers are very conceptual, they tell a story, and I’m a big fan of storytelling. Which is why, I’m a big fan of Jay-Z and Joell Ortiz who is a part of our camp as well. Within three minutes, they are able to tell you the story of their life and I feel like being a songwriter that should be evident to. So I take that craft from rapper and put it in my music, although I don’t rap the ability to tell a story is in my music. AllHipHop.com: What is the hardest thing for you to tackle every day when you wake up? Krissy Krissy: Every day is a gamble; every day is taking a chance. Especially now in the line of business I’m in. You never know what’s accepting and what’s not. I guess the biggest gamble is for me to continue to be myself, even when society wants to change you to be a little prettier or be a little bit more feminine. My everyday me is cargos in a white tee to society that may not be accepted. Every day pushing pass the criticism. It’s hard. This music industry is hard it’s a lot of opinions and a lot of people trying but it’s very few stars. I enjoy being myself. AllHipHop.com: Why do you sing? Krissy Krissy: I was raised in a musical family, my father was a man of faith, and he was a pastor. All six of us [sung]. The apartment that we lived in wasn’t really safe to go outside, so we stayed in the house singing, while my father played the guitar. My father taught me how to play the guitar. Then we would go to church on Sunday’s. I was the first they asked to join the choir, you had to be 25 and I was 13. I would sing all the big records; they took me on trips, I would sing in prisons, etc. I just continued to pursue that. I knew that I was changing; I didn’t feel comfortable, singing to the same type congregation, who kept trying to put in this type of box. I started hitting the karaoke bars, doing competitions, and I would win. It started when I was younger. I really mastered my church. AllHipHop.com: Tell us more about your new project. Krissy Krissy: The EP is called Above All, which was inspired by my father. My father passed away a year ago Nov 4. All the records on there are based off love. Dream is about the love of music, maybe it is about wishing you could have loved someone better; your love is about the perfect love made for you, and Broken Glass is about loving yourself. AllHipHop.com: At the end of it all, what do you want to be said about you? Krissy Krissy: I defiantly want to be labeled a Grammy award winning artist. Krissy Krissy. Similar to Elton John, Madonna, they have so many fans because they were true to their selves. No matter what happens, I want them to know I stayed true myself. One More thing ,I want to give credit to Joell Ortiz. Joell really helps me, he’s a great writer. A lot of rappers write really well – he’s one. I just wanted to thank him; he does a whole lot for me. Follow Krissy Krissy on Twitter @KrissyKrissy1 Listen to Krissy Krissy’s second single “Suspicious” off her Above All EP on itunes.
