(AllHipHop News) Rapper Doug E. Fresh will open his Harlem restaurant tonight (June 25), in an attempt to educate the Hip-Hop community about their rights as voters, in the upcoming election. Doug E. Fresh and U.T.F.O member Kangol Kid will gather at Doug E. Fresh’s Chicken & Waffles, to educate voters about their rights in the upcoming election. The rally is being supported by Democratic Congressional Candidate and former Bill Clinton Advisor Clyde Williams. “There are so many people in my community who don’t even bother to register because they don’t think their vote will make a difference,” Doug E. Fresh said. “I think we, as celebrities, have an obligation to change that mindset. We want to show the world that Hip Hop has a voice, and our vote does count.” The rally, which will be free and open to the public will take place from 6-8:00pm. “On the eve of Tuesday’s primary election, I feel it is more important than ever for voters, young and old to be encouraged to get out and exercise their right to vote,” added Clyde Williams, a candidate for the 13th Congressional District, which includes Harlem. “Harlem is in a pivotal place right now,” Williams added. “For the first time in 40-years, the top leadership could change, and the people should have a say in that change by voting.”

Rappers To Serve Dinner To Fans To Raise Money For Breast Cancer Awareness
(AllHipHop News) A number of hip-hop legends will gather in Harlem, New York tomorrow (October 12) to raise money to help find a cure for breast cancer. UTFO’s Kangol Kid is spearheading the “Waiters & Waitresses” event being held at Doug E. Fresh’s Chicken & Waffles tomorrow. “For over 30 years, Hip-Hop has bred and influenced a league of super heroes and leaders in the entertainment industry,” Kangol Kid told AllHipHop.com. “I for one believe that ‘with great powers come great responsibilities.’ As rappers we’ve always been recognized as the ‘News Anchors’ for the streets. Therefore, it is our responsibility to bring awareness like anchors while saving lives like super heroes.” The fundraising effort that will legendary artists, executives and others, serving of food to patrons. Confirmed artists include Kangol Kid, Doug E. Fresh, Roxanne Shante, Nikki D., Dana Dane, Rahiem of the Furious 5, Bowlegged Lou of Full Force, Milk Dee of Audio Two, Freedom Williams of C&C Music Factory, Lady Luck, Mike C. of The Fearless 4, Joe Ski Love and others The event is part of the “Mama Luke Movement” that aims to raise awareness about breast cancer within the Hip-Hop community. Kangol formed the organization with film exec Shaunda Lumpkin, after her mother Gay Frances Lucas passed away from breast cancer in May of 2010. “This male dominated art form has been accused of degrading women for decades through songs and videos,” Kangol Kid told AllHipHop.com. “Those same male pioneers are today’s husbands to wives and fathers to daughters. As us men become better with time, the Mama Luke Movement Breast Cancer Fight becomes an answered invitation for Hip-Hop to show our women…we care.” Doug E.
